Join Science Communicator Samantha Edwards-Ingle as she dives into the world of hoiho – why they’re important, the issues they’re facing and what we can do to help Dunedin’s hoiho population.
Hoiho are one of the rarest species of penguin in the world and we are lucky enough to have these feathered friends living in our own backyard! They are endemic to New Zealand and super unique, from their characteristic yellow banded eyes to secluded nesting and breeding behaviours.
Over the years, we humans have put pressure on hoiho populations in many ways and it is now our duty to do all that we can for them.
This free, family-friendly talk is a great opportunity to learn about local VIPs (very important penguin species) hoiho and what we can do to support them.
