Piecing Together Our Precious Penguins

  • Otago Museum 419 Great King Street Dunedin New Zealand (map)

See what usually happens behind the scenes at Tūhura Otago Museum when the Natural Science team catalogue and piece together the skeletons of native penguin species.

The Collections and Curation team will be in the Atrium laying out penguin skeletons from the Basement Collection; taking them from a jumble of bones into perfectly laid out skeletons.

This is a great opportunity to learn about the work of our Natural Science team and learn more about the different species of local penguins up close. Our Natural Science Collections Managers and Curators will be showcasing the work they usually do behind the scenes and will be available to answer questions about our native penguin species.

You can stop by throughout the day to see the progress and learn more about these incredible species and the work that goes on behind the scenes at Otago Museum day to day!

If your child has a fascination with bones, skeletons, and the animals they come from, this will be something they will love. With lots more on all school holidays, come and celebrate Wild Dunedin with us.
